COSTUME DAY 扮裝日
Last week, ISA Science City School kicked off its inaugural English Week with a series of activities designed to stimulate students" interest in learning English. On Monday, the last day of October, English Week was rounded off with a "Costume Day" and also as a celebration of a very eventful October.
上周,愛莎科學城學校開啟了首屆“英語周”,旨在通過一系列的活動激發學生學習英語的興趣。本周一,恰逢10月最后一天,英語周以“扮裝日”的形式畫上了完美的句號,同時也慶祝我們度過了充實的十月。
During English Week, the school organised a series of "English mini-activities" to infuse the students" teaching and recess time, which included organising students to use their imagination to create a short story in English and to describe a character in detail. During the Costume Day, characters were carefully selected by observing and thinking in depth. Using the characters in the book or media as inspiration, students designed their own look and put them on for the parade. Superheroes were common in elementary school, whereas in middle school, there was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and Big Brother from 1984, as well as "China"s anti-epidemic retrograde" and so on.
在英語周中,學校組織了一系列的“英文小活動”滲入學生的教學與課間時光,其中包括組織學生發揮想象力,杜撰一篇英文短故事,并細致地描述故事中的一個角色;而在在扮裝日中,我們看到古靈精怪的孩子們紛紛將“想象化為現實”——他們親手用廢棄材料制作環保服裝,或打扮成書籍與影視中的角色走入校園,其中,有各型各色的超級英雄、從“綠野仙蹤”中的桃樂絲、電影《1984》中的老大哥,以及由老師扮演的“中國抗疫的逆行者”等等,以一場活力四射的巡游活動開啟了又一天精彩的校園生活。

Starts with English Week and ends with Costume Day - the school organises such activities that combine learning with school life, enhancing and enriching students" academic and imaginative skills, while also promoting social skills among students. Ms Debbie, the school"s World Languages Coordinator, said:“Through such activities, we hope to expand students" cultural awareness, language exploration, and connection, and ultimately their creativity. We can also expect activities focused on language development in the future, such as World Languages Festival, Chinese Week, and Library Week”.
始于英語周,終于扮裝日——學校組織諸如此類將學習與校園生活相結合的活動,增強并豐富學生學術能力與想象力的同時,也促進了學生之間的社交能力。學校世界語言協調員Debbie女士提到:“我們希望借由這類的活動,拓展學生文化寬度與深度、語言探索與聯結以及最終創意的傳播與表達。未來還可期待世界語言日、中文周、圖書館周等語言發展相關的聚焦活動”。
