"One PE lesson a day", which is real at BMH.
This academic year, children in Prep1 to 6have a PE lesson every day. When the weather permits, the children are able to run around outdoors and learn various sports. When the weather is unsuitable, children can also access a wide range of exercises in the indoor sports spaces.
We provide a very goodPE programme and emphasize the importance of PE because we believe that the skills, physical fitness and sportsmanship that children acquire through PE have a huge impact on their lives.
That is why BMH"s PE programme is carefully designed to meet the physical developmental needs of all ages, and to enable children to appreciate the joy of sport, fall in love with it and stay engaged init for life.
PE LessonsThe PE programme is much more than just getting children outside, starting to run and jump and learning sports skills.
The PE teachers at BMH set the direction and focus of each year group according to their physical ability and developmental characteristics, and set up a variety of physical activities to stimulate their interest and potential for learning.
InPrep 1 to 3,the children"s physical abilities are limited and their PE lessons do not focus on specialist skills, but rather on stimulating their interest in sport. So they are exposed to a dozen sports throughout the year including tennis, football, rugby, volleyball and more. It is a great way for them to find out what they like, what they are good at and what they want to continue learning about withinsport.
And in Prep 4 to 6, the children spend a longer period of time practising a particular sport in which they learn the rules and organisation of the sport and learn the skills of the sport in greaterdepth.
These programmes will all be designed to meet the developmental needs of children in terms of flexibility, coordination, agility and stamina.
PE CCA ProgrammeIn addition to daily PE lessons, BMH"s extensive PE CCA programme offers a wide range of options for students each term.
Whether you love golf, tennis, basketball, football, table tennis, or want to try tag rugby or taekwondo, you can get great coaching from the teachers during CCA time each week.
This term we have formed our basketball and football teams. The children"s training started in early September and you can see them improving every week under the expert guidance of the PE teachers.
PECompetitions
Not every child will be a professional athlete, but every child can enjoy the experience and fun of a game. During the PE sessions where each sport is taught, the PE teachers organise team competitions for the children at appropriate times.
For the students, the skills and techniques they have learnt are applied when they are on the field, and they learn more about the rules and teamwork in the process.
Whether it"s a school sports day or a friendly match with another school, our aim is for children to learn how to face winning and losing, how to gain the courage to fall down and get up again, and how to unite with their teammates and respect their competitors ..... This is an important life lesson for all children.
PE Teachers
At BMH, we believe that the subject of PE is as important as any other subject and that the PE teacher plays a crucial role in the development of thechildren they teach.
The teachers in the PE team at BMH are all highly professional in their sporting abilities. The Head ofPE, Mr Luo Yi, is a former national Grade 2 athlete, Mr Roohan is a tennis player who is qualified to play in China"s main tennis league, and Mr Edy has great experience in teaching football and basketball.
They are also popular teachers with the children after school and can often be seen interacting lovingly with children in the school campus. We believe that every child has fun and enjoys their PE lessons.
As we all know, sport is not all fun and games. There will be moments when studentsget injured, moments when they doubt themselves, moments when they face the frustration of failure.
But that"s the charm of sport, isn"t it? During sport, we get tired but we feel the sense of accomplishment,we get frustrated but we also improve, we do our best and then we get better. It comes from the instincts of the body andit brings a sense of the heart.
We have the ability and confidence to give our children the pleasure, the skills and the power to move forward in PE.
