Wuhan is set to have its fifth K12 school for children of expatriates. OVIS, also known as Optics Valley International School, is Optics Valley’s second school for children of Expatriates.

The school has received numerous enquiries from families from all walks of life since the release of its opening announcement. Parents are keen to find out more about the school.

Wuhan Optics Valley International School (OVIS) is a strategic project initiated by the Administrative Committee of East Lake Hi-Tech Development Zone of Wuhan in 2020. The project aims to create a favorable environment to attract talent and serve for the industrial upgrading of Wuhan Optics Valley.

With the endeavour to attract more "World Talents", Optics Valley has sped up the process of creating a "World Valley" in recent years.

There are more than 360 foreign-related businesses, about 40,000 temporary foreign staff, and about 3,000 permanent foreign staff, most of whom are specialists, academics, and executives employed by companies in the East Lake High Tech Zone. They have a sizable need for excellent educational resources.

So here comes OVIS.

武漢光谷康橋外籍人員子女學校（OVIS）是武漢東湖高新區管委會為塑造良好人才環境，服務于光谷產業升級的戰略配套項目。

The OVIS campus has state-of-the-art amenities like central air conditioning, a fresh air system, a plastic runway, a multi-functional theater, a creative multimedia classroom, a dance rehearsal room, three fully equipped science labs, two music practice rooms, a library, and a learning area specifically for art, music, and drama activities.

The architecture of the school"s diversified teaching spaces not only ensures that a variety of courses will be taught there, but also fully accommodates the students" sporting requirements.

Stage & Curriculum？

OVIS adopts mainstream international curriculum systems and provides children with a wide range of curricular options to study.

For kindergarten, we have obtained the Montessori education method, which is a child-centered method of education that respects children"s nature of growth.

In Montessori classrooms, children make creative choices in their learning, while the school and the highly trained teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process. Children will work in groups and individually to discover and explore the knowledge of the world and to develop their maximum potential.

At the primary stage, OVIS offers the curriculum of IPC (International Primary Curriculum), which uses a set of creative pedagogues that integrates academic, educational, personal development and international learning for children worldwide. Currently, more than 1500 schools in 85 countries around the world are adopting IPC.

At the secondary stage, OVIS will inherit the advantages of Ulink Group and offer Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level curriculum, as well as IB curriculum, to meet the needs of different students.

Currently, we accept applications for kindergarten and primary school enrolment. A few parents have already visited the school, and kindergarten tours are available for locals in the neighbourhood.

Plans call for OVIS to establish one class for every grade at K–12 level, with a projected enrollment of roughly 20 students per class. Our kindergartens and elementary schools will open their doors this year, followed by the middle school div in September 2023 and the high school div in September 2024.

目前，武漢光谷康橋外籍人員子女學校已開放幼兒園和小學的入學申請，已有部分家長到校探訪，對于周邊社區的居民，學校也開放了幼兒園的游園。

今后，OVIS將在K12階段每個年級開設一個班，每個班預計招收20人左右。2022學年開放幼兒園和小學學段，2023學年開放初中學段，2024學年開放高中學段。

Step 1: Submit an Application

You can find the Application Form in OVIS WeChat Official Account.

Please click the “Apply” button below to submit an application form.

Step 2: Students Assessment and Family interview

Students Assessment is needed as applicants are expected to have certain competence in learning. Applicants will be assessed for around 60 minutes. We look forward to getting to know applicants and families better, you also need to attend a family interview on the same day.

Step 3: Documents for Application

Once you pass Step 2, the application documents listed below need to be sent to the Admissions Office at AdmissionsOVIS.cn in 2 workdays.

Passport copies for both parents and student

Copy of student’s valid Visa

Previous school study report

Students health history report

Copy of vaccination certificate (Students in Kindergarten and Primary are needed)

Step 4: Notification Day

If the documents sent to us are valid,

the admissions officer will contact you in 3 workdays

We are taking applications for the current 2022-2023 academic year and the coming 2023-2024 academic year. Should you be interested,

please submit your application now.

For the current 2022-2023 academic year, you are welcome to complete the application before December 31st, 2022. For the coming 2023-2024 academic year, kindly complete the application before June 30th, 2023.
