RWI 學習背景
來自英國牛津的“Read, Write Inc.” 高質量的自然拼讀教學法(簡稱:RWI課程),經過多年的嘗試和檢驗,被證實能夠高效地幫助英語非母語的學習者快速閱讀,從而更好地提高他們在英語理解、詞匯和拼寫方面的能力。RWI課程在英國和許多成功的國際學校廣泛使用,在哈羅深圳的幼教中心至小學2年級,老師們也一直通過這樣的教學法幫助學生們快速學習英語的閱讀、寫作、口語和聽力四種技能。
經過RWI課程訓練而升入關鍵階段 2 (英式小學3年級)的同學們,明顯更自信且善于表達,這為他們接下來的語言學習及發展奠定了良好的基礎。小學部所有老師們都會定期且持續接受培訓,以確保他們的教學能切實幫助學生提高英文水平。

What is RWI?
Read, Write Inc is aprogramme which helps all children learn to read fluently and at speed so they can focus on developing their skills in comprehension, vocabulary and spelling. The programme is widely used across the UK and in many successful international schools and has a reputation for supporting the rapid progression of students learning across the four skills of English: reading, writing, speaking and listening. At Harrow Shenzhen, teachers have also been applying the RWI programme from the Early Years to Key Stage 1.
This programme sets the foundations for students’ development in language as they enter into Key Stage 2 as confident and articulate communicators. All teachers and support teachers in our Lower School receive regular and ongoing training to deliver this programme to ensure that practice leads to student improvement.

學生初始狀況
在2020年創校元年,由于不同的語言學習背景、突然進入全英語教學環境、和疫情初期長時間缺課等種種原因,我們第一批加入哈羅深圳的低幼齡學生面臨著種種學習上的挑戰。經過一段時間老師們的循循善誘,所有同學的英語都百分百取得了進步!

Starting profile
Our inaugural cohort of students came to us having faced many challenges, such as varied language journeys and exposure to English medium teaching, as well as in some cases prolonged periods of absence from school due to the pandemic of 2020. In the face of this, 100% of the cohort made progress!

卓有成效的英語成長
回顧過往的一學年,我們見證了RWI教學法對于所有學生英語學習上的有效性。其中 45% 的學生更是超前達到了更高階的水準。在校生都在自然拼讀方面取得了進步。學年剛開始的階段,已有19%的學生達到英國對英語為母語的學生英語水平的要求;到了學期末,這一比例已上升至 50% 以上。 對于非英語母語的學生來說,這樣的成長非常鼓舞人心!

Spotlight successes
Looking back at students’ progress over last academic year, whilst all of our students have made progress in phonics, 45% of them made expected or accelerated progress. Compared to 19% of the cohort were already at UK expected levels (for native English speakers) at the beginning of the academic year, by the end of the academic yearthis had risen to over 50%. This is excellent progress for non-native English speakers!

我們的評估方法
學生在開始學習RWI課程時(通常在幼兒園大班下學期,或入學哈羅時)會進行一次評估測試;并在幼兒園和小學一、二年級的學習期間,繼續定期接受評估測試。
每次評估測試之后,老師將根據學生水平進行分組,并跟蹤每個學生的水平進展。老師也會根據學生的需要進行針對性的教學和配備相應的材料資源,確保學生獲得適當的鞏固和拔高,從而獲得成功。

How do we assess
the students?
Students are assessed at the start of the programme (usually in Term 3 of Reception/K2, or when they first arrive at our school). This continues throughout the programme at regular intervals during the course of Early Years and Key Stage 1.
Following each assessment, students are subsequently grouped according to their levels, and they are tracked as they advance through these levels. Teaching and resources are both aligned to the developmental needs of the students, ensuring appropriate challenge and stretch to enhance the opportunities for success.
