Academic English students have been exploring the theme of art and museum with topic-oriented vocabulary to cultivate their awareness of different subjects. With the aid of related documentaries alongside reading comprehension, disciplines enhance their English skills through listening and graphical cues, triggering enthusiasm and stimulating insights about the world. Furthermore, by examining IELTS Writing band descriptors, students better understand the criteria for written exams: task response, coherence and cohesion, lexical resources, and grammatical range and accuracy. In addition, through peer editing, pupils collectively learn from each other by strengthening attentiveness to common mistakes and identifying high-standard qualities to incorporate into individual written work.

與上學期重點置于練習閱讀和聽力技能不同,本學期我們將重點轉向寫作和口語技能。學生們每周都會進行聽寫,練習關鍵詞的含義和拼寫。為了讓十一年級ESL學生為IGCSE期末考試做好準備,英語組在學校的支持下組織了一次完整的模擬考試,幫助十一年級學生做好全身心的準備。所有的英語教師都參加了考試委員會的培訓課程,以便向學生提供關于期末考試的最新、最準確的信息。
在第一學期針對性的聽、說、讀訓練之后,十年級的ESL課程一直專注于寫作。學生們通過復習語法結構和使用相關工作表進行練習,鞏固了前三個單元的語法。同時,學生們還對前幾個單元的單詞進行了聽寫。為了提高學生的聽力能力和對語法結構的理解,ESL課程采用了這樣的方式:老師閱讀短文,學生根據(jù)所聽到的內(nèi)容描繪成畫,然后全班討論介詞在該段中的作用。
As opposed to the last semester where the focuses were on practicing reading and listening skills, this semester we switch our gears to writing and speaking. Students have been worked on weekly dictation to practice on the meaning and spelling of keywords. In order to prepare Y11 ESL students for the IGCSE final Exam, the English Department in conjunction with the support from the school to organize a full mock exam to help the Y11 students get ready physically and mentally. All the English staff attended the exam board training sessions to deliver the most updated and accurate information about the final exam to students.
After targeted listening, speaking and reading in the first semester, the Y10 ESL lesson have been focusing on writing. Students have consolidated the grammar in the first three units by reviewing grammatical structure and practicing with relevant worksheets. In the meanwhile, students dictated on the words in the previous units. To improve students" listening ability and their understanding of grammar structure, ESL lessons adopted a way that teacher read a short paragraph, students drew a picture according to what they have heard, followed by class discussion about the role of prepositions in the paragraph.

The new semester of 2022 was very interesting. With new students joining and old students on the brink of graduation there were a variety of classes. One of theELA students hasbeen working reading narrative essays and narrative journal articles, including a short novel. The class discussions are focused on the understanding of the reading passage and comprehension questions similar to exam questions. The students have read the novel Loons by Canadian writer, Margaret The students are engaged in the discussions of the character analysis, setting and theme of of the novels. The classes also focus on learning vocabulary in context, and learn vocabulary in some fun exercises, such as the SSAT synonyms and analogies questions.
