Chinese Battle of the Books

3月30日，2023年度中文閱讀擂臺(tái)賽（Battle of Books）正式開(kāi)戰(zhàn)。

On March 30th, the 2023 Chinese Reading Challenge (Battle of the Books) officially began.

AIC的七位參賽選手清早集結(jié)，前往賽場(chǎng)—AISG。

The seven contestants from AIC gathered early atAISG.

中文閱讀擂臺(tái)賽由AISG主辦，愿景是提供一個(gè)平臺(tái)，激發(fā)學(xué)生的閱讀興趣，讓學(xué)生愛(ài)上閱讀。本屆比賽分為兩個(gè)年級(jí)組別：初中組（Grade 6-8）和高中組（Grade 9-10）。AIC派出了一支由9年級(jí)和10年級(jí)學(xué)生組成的隊(duì)伍參加高中組的比賽。

Chinese Battle of the Bookswas hosted by AISG, with the vision of providing a platform to develop a strong interest in reading. This competition is divided into two grade groups: the junior high school group (Grade 6-8) and the high school group (Grade 9-10). AIC sent a team consisting of 9th and 10th grade students to participate in the high school group competition.

參賽的七位同學(xué)分別是：IG1的Yauyau Qin，IG2的Gabrielle Lei、Cindy Xie、Bella Cai、Lin、Roy Zhou和William Wei。他們從去年11月接到參賽任務(wù)之后，就按照商定的方案，各自完成指定的書(shū)目閱讀。在長(zhǎng)達(dá)5個(gè)月的時(shí)間里，他們經(jīng)歷了疫情、期末考試、寒假以及IG模考，在應(yīng)對(duì)繁重的學(xué)習(xí)任務(wù)之余，堅(jiān)持閱讀，以佳作滋養(yǎng)心靈，踏上了一次難得的閱讀之旅。

The students participating are Yauyau Qinfrom IG1, Gabrielle Lei, Cindy Xie, Bella Cai , Lin, Roy Zhou, and William Wei from IG2. After receiving the competition task in November last year, they completed the designated book reading according to the agreed plan. During a period of up to 5 months, they experienced the epidemic, final exams, winter vacation, and IG mock exams. In addition to dealing with heavy learning tasks, they persisted in reading, nourishing their souls with excellent works, and embarked on a rare journey of reading.

比賽日當(dāng)天，AIC團(tuán)隊(duì)的成員與來(lái)自廣州其他國(guó)際學(xué)校的同學(xué)一道，以書(shū)會(huì)友，共赴一場(chǎng)閱讀的盛宴。在東道主AISG的精心組織和盛情招待下，高中組別的六支隊(duì)伍進(jìn)入了第一輪淘汰賽。在這個(gè)比賽環(huán)節(jié)中，選手們需要在答題紙上完成60道選擇題和40道填空題，總分為100分。AIC的學(xué)子們憑借對(duì)作品語(yǔ)言風(fēng)格的熟練把握和對(duì)書(shū)中細(xì)節(jié)的高度關(guān)注獲得了95分，順利進(jìn)入決賽。

On the day of the competition, members of the AIC team, together with students form other international schools in Guangzhou, went to a reading feast to make friends through books. Under the careful organization and hospitality of the host AISG, six teams from the high school group entered the first round of knockout rounds. In this competition, the contestants need to complete 60 multiple-choice questions and 40 fill in the blank questions on the answer sheet, with a total score of 100 points. The students of AIC earned 95 points with their proficiency in the language style of their works and high attention to the details in the book, successfully advancing to the finals.

決賽以搶答的形式?jīng)Q出勝負(fù)，答對(duì)一題獲得一分，答錯(cuò)一題則扣掉一分。AIC的參賽選手們對(duì)于答題很有把握，但求勝心切，數(shù)次出現(xiàn)失誤，提前按下?lián)尨鸢粹o，屢屢失分。在戰(zhàn)況不利的關(guān)鍵時(shí)刻，大家穩(wěn)定心態(tài)專注比賽，發(fā)揮團(tuán)隊(duì)合作的力量相互配合，最終做到了每答必對(duì)，擊敗了來(lái)自AISG的隊(duì)伍，惜敗于黃埔區(qū)華外同文外國(guó)語(yǔ)學(xué)校和科學(xué)城愛(ài)莎外籍人員子女學(xué)校，獲得了本屆擂臺(tái)賽高中組的季軍。

The final is decided through a quick answer, with one point awarded for one correct answer and one point deducted for one wrong answer. The AIC contestants are very confident in answering questions, but they are eager to win. They have made mistakes several times and pressed the answer button in advance, repeatedly losing points. At a critical moment when the battle situation was unfavorable, everyone remained stable and focused on the game, leveraging the power of teamwork to cooperate with each other. In the end, AIC team achieved every answer right and defeated the team from AISG. They were defeated by the Affiliated foreign Launuage School of SCNU and ISA Science City international school. Finally AIC won the third place in the high school group of the

competition.

通過(guò)這次比賽，AIC的學(xué)子體驗(yàn)了閱讀的快樂(lè)，積累了競(jìng)賽經(jīng)驗(yàn)，結(jié)交了同齡的朋友，鑄就了團(tuán)隊(duì)精神，收獲了站上獎(jiǎng)臺(tái)的榮耀。這不僅是一場(chǎng)享受閱讀的盛宴，更是一條邁向成長(zhǎng)的賽道。

Through this competition, AIC students experienced the joy of reading, accumulated competition experience, made friends with peers, forged team spirit, and gained the honor of standing on the podium. This is not only a feast for enjoying reading, but also a track towards growth.
